Yeah... I think 'the person' in this song is Zack, in Cloud eyes. Zack Fair is a really perfect man, he is kind, handsome, strong, and moreover he could sacrifice himself for others good. As if for Cloud Strife, he is only a friend that live in outskirts (same as Zack), but Zack really loves him until he could do anything to protect Cloud from Shinra.
"You’ve been taxed by this heavy burden for so long." I think, this is what Cloud is thinking about Zack. His burden to protect Cloud (from those s**t infantryman and the helicopters) is too heavy.
The most heartbreaking event is when Cloud screaming out loud after Zack closed his eyes, and the he started to replay his memories about Zack (woo Cloud's expression is so... and Sakurai Takahiro's Sound make him perfectly sad).....
But, my friend said, it could be about Angeal in Zack's eyes. Yes, Angeal really loves Zack, maybe Angeal looked at Zack as if he is a puppy (Angeal said that he is a restless puppy...♥)
So In the end, IT IS A HEARTBREAKING SONG! I'm crying and flooding my home after watch Crisis Core's Ending. Haaa Zack Fair will always be my most favorite hero in Final Fantasy!!♥♥
